Thoughtless Awareness
When a lake is still, its surface becomes mirror-like, and reflects the beauty of the landscape around it. When the mind is still, it reflects the beauty of creation. In a state of meditation, we pay no attention to the past or the future; neither of these states exist in the present. Meditation grants us freedom from times that are finished forever or times that are yet to come. Why do we spend our energy on times that do not exist? The only moment that exists is right now. A practice of meditation calms the mind, it smooths the surface of the lake, to allow for inner reflection. We enjoy our self, our spirit, nature, our own inner beauty, and the beauty of creation. We enjoy being. Simple joys of existence are once again embraced, as they once were in childhood. The mind wanders, these productions of thoughts cloud the spirit and bring us nothing but confusion and misery.
