Meditation is the act of being present. When we meditate, we are focusing on the present moment entirely. And when the mind wanders, we bring it back, back to the present moment.

What is Meditation?

Meditation, as discussed in another page, has different meanings attached to it for different people. From concentration to surrender, exercises to mental effort. All of these can be considered meditation. During meditation, techniques are utilised for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that differs from the usual waking state. This results in a state of thoughtless awareness. A state of presence. Techniques are varied; I introduce a novel scientific approach of meditation.

Thoughtless Awareness

When a lake is still, its surface becomes mirror-like, and reflects the beauty of the landscape around it. When the mind is still, it reflects the beauty of creation. In a state of meditation, we pay no attention to the past or the future; neither of these states exist in the present. Meditation grants us freedom from times that are finished forever or times that are yet to come. Why do we spend our energy on times that do not exist? The only moment that exists is right now. A practice of meditation calms the mind, it smooths the surface of the lake, to allow for inner reflection. We enjoy our self, our spirit, nature, our own inner beauty, and the beauty of creation. We enjoy being. Simple joys of existence are once again embraced, as they once were in childhood. The mind wanders, these productions of thoughts cloud the spirit and bring us nothing but confusion and misery.

Meditation, for beginners, is:

Time

Finding some time, during the day to allocate to a practice

Space

Giving yourself space, to be able to efficiently reach seperation

Technique

A particular technique, that is customised to fit your life

Live in the Present
